Bloom Where You’re Planted!

In Jeremiah 29, the Lord said bloom where you're planted.
Do you sometimes believe but then find that your actions may not quite align with that belief? Yes, it is possible to be out of alignment, and honestly, it does not make us bad people. God knows us, and He's well aware of our need to live and grow.
I tend to say, don't be so hard on yourself when our actions and words don't align. We have the choice to make adjustments or corrections to our ways to align with God's word and His will for our lives.
It's Ok…make the adjustments.
In my early twenties, my little family moved to a state where it was extremely cold (for me anyways) and very different. While I kind of embraced my new surroundings and my new life, I wasn't 100% sold on my new environment.
It was such a new way of life for me. I recall being uncomfortable and unhappy many days. I was young, and this new military lifestyle was vastly different than my life, to that point.
After 11 months we departed that location. On my way out, I consciously decided to never live that way again.
I decided that for every place I lived, I would embrace the area, the culture, the community, the city, the people, the similarities, and the differences.
In essence, I made up my mind to make every new place my home.
I chose to live, experience it, grow, and love it.
Every place that I've lived since has been a place of joy, wonder, and amazement for me. I made sure to embrace the military environment and the civilian parts of life.
I totally believe that I have prospered over the years because I believe the Word of God, that it is true.
In a moment, we'll take a look at this portion of scripture. I wasn't carried into exile, per se, but then again, living the military life, life as a Pastor's wife, a career woman, and a mom…all of it was new and different until it wasn't.
I embraced this word for my life then and I continue to embrace it now. Consider this…
Grow and prosper where you're planted
Jeremiah 29:4-7
4 This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says to all those I carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon:
5 “Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce.
6 Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in number there; do not decrease.
7 Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
Imagine if you will take this word for yourself. It doesn't say beg, borrow, steal, kill, or take what you want.
No! God has given us a better way.
You have the gifts, talents, and abilities to care for yourselves. You do not have to experience lack.
Think about what you already know how to do. Maybe you're working on new skills. Perhaps you want to or need to develop new skills.
Regardless, you have in your hand NOW what you need to start taking care of your needs NOW.
Let's take that a bit further. If you do not feel you have what you need, you still have an option.
Pray to God for what you need so you may live in peace and prosperity where you are. If the city you live in prospers, you will prosper. That's the truth of the Word.
If you feel that you're lacking, then seek the help you need.
