When life is good but not great, there’s this tendency to think we should be content with what we have, even when it’s not fulfilling.

“I am a woman who is deeply troubled. I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring out my soul to the Lord.

4 tips to get what you want while remaining committed to your beliefs

Life happens to everyone. Only some things will go as expected. Situations occur, and you're not always in control. Sometimes, you can't get what you want, no matter how hard you try.

Oh, sure, the opportunity is there to drop your commitment to your beliefs. You know you could “make” things happen to get what you want, but at what cost?

Do you really want to sacrifice your faith, belief system, character, and what you stand for to get what you want in life?

Let's put it another way.

What do you do when you feel you've done all you can, but things don't go as you hoped?

You may start to wonder if you should stop trying to improve or get better. It's as though what you desire most is always outside your control, just beyond your reach.

You know it's right there, but you can't seem to get what you want, making you wonder if God means for you to "be content with what you have and not desire more.

Ladies, I don't believe so.

There are numerous examples in the Bible where people have what they need. And yet, the desire remains for something more or maybe even different.

Let’s take a peek at Hannah for inspiration.

She had a husband who loved her and was given double portions of blessings from him, and yet something was still missing in her life. She wanted more.

She was inaccurately accused of being drunk. She was ridiculed and scorned because of her situation. Hannah felt the loss of her barrenness, although she knew her husband loved her. Yet, that alone was not enough.

It was with a broken heart that Hannah prayed to God. Her heart hurt because she strongly desired to be a mother.

She knew the only source she had was God. Hannah followed her belief. She kneeled at the altar, pouring her heart out to the Lord.

She sought God, and He answered her prayer request. She "looked" foolish, like a drunk woman. But she did not care. She wanted her son.

Hannah became known as the woman who dedicated her son back to God. She willingly cared for Samuel until he was old enough to live without her. She then took her young son to the "church," where he lived to become a mighty man of God.

Had Samuel's mother not pushed through the process to get what she wanted, her life and heritage would have been very different. Read her story in 1 Samuel.

This is most certainly a story of getting what you want while remaining committed to your beliefs.

In the book Winners Win, Taneka Rubin talks about being a Life Winner. I’ll say Hannah was an example of a life winner.

A Life Winner is the one who utilizes their God-given abilities to impact the world for a greater purpose.

There are ways to get what you want in life. These four tips can help you without compromising your beliefs.

  1. Accept That There is a Process.

Acceptance is one of the first steps to making change. Recognize that where you are is not where you want to be. Accept that getting what you want is usually a process. Change does not happen overnight. But the fact of the matter is nothing changes until you realize you do not like where you are.

Hannah was done accepting verbal torture from this other woman.

She accepted that something had to change.

2. Commit to the Process.

You may need to change your thinking to get what you want. Make a firm commitment to take the necessary steps to achieve your goals.

You can do this without losing who you are in the process. You don't need to sacrifice who you are; remain committed to your beliefs on your journey to success.

3. Be Willing to do the Hard Work.

“A Life Winner doesn’t take “no” for an answer, but instead finds another way to get it done.”

- Taneka Rubin

To succeed, you must be willing to put in the work and not give up when things get tough. True Life Winners are the ones who can find solutions to problems instead of just giving up in defeat.

As Hannah prayed, she poured out her heart to God with unwavering devotion. You too may need to search your heart for your deepest desires. Passionately allow God to guide you towards fulfilling them.

To get what you need, be willing to pour out your heart to God.

It's all about having that determination to push through and keep going! Be willing to work hard and give your all.

4. Start Taking Action Immediately.

Start moving forward. Accept that multiple steps are needed and take action.

Do what you can immediately to get started in the right direction.

You may be like Hannah, who stepped away for a short period of time to focus on her wants.

Whether you can take massive action now or not, remember this: baby steps are still steps.

The opportunity is yours to get what you desire in life and business. The actions are clear.

  1. Accept that there is a process.

  2. Commit to the process.

  3. Be willing to do the hard work.

  4. Start taking action immediately.

If you submit to the process, you may find that you can receive more of what you desire while maintaining your belief system.
